After your initial 3CX installation there may be a requirement to add new extensions to the system. The easiest method to perform this is to copy an existing extension already present in the system. This will ensure all handsets shortcuts, forwarding rules and Voicemail settings are replicated.

Log into your 3CX Administrator Portal and access the Extension menu on the left. Select the extension you wish to copy by selecting the radio button on the left, then press the Copy Extension button:


On the User Configuration screen enter the following details:

  • New Extension number (try to use the next incremental extension number available)
  • First and Last Name
  • Email Address
  • Caller ID – this is the number that will display on the callee’s phone


Press the Next button or select the Extension Options tab at the top and check all available options. Click next to finish the extension creation process:

The new extension is now ready for use with either a desk phone, Windows App, Web Portal or smart phone app. By adding the email address of the specified user 3CX will generate a welcome email with everything required to setup access to the system. If the extension is to be used with a new desk phone please contact Cybersquad IT to complete the provisioning process.
